His main research area is sustainable smart cities. He is also interested in the digital transformation of city and quality of life, inclusion, gentrification, and digital divide in smart cities.

He majored in Physics and minored in Landscape Architecture during his bachelor’s studies. After his bachelor’s degree from Wuhan University, he then pursued a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Cities from King’s College London, with a thesis focusing on sustainable green roofs and their thermal effects. After completing his master’s degree, he worked at Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences in China.
